This book tells two parallel stories, which are intertwined. One is about the ambitious and introvert Neuroscientist Tanushree Roy Chowdhury and her newly found friend, the violinist turned lawyer Joshua Salisbury. They meet in 21st century Paris and despite their differences develop a deep friendship. The other takes place in pre-independence Calcutta where we follow Debendranath Roy Chowdhury and Esiah Cohen. I want to tell the story of the Indian partition in Bengal and the emotions it gave rise to. Secondly, through the many conversations of Tanushree and Joshua we follow them through life’s journey and its many challenges…and how they finally realize they have more in common than they initially thought.
